Hajimete No Gal Season 2: The season of love spring brings new chances to those who haven’t fallen in love and this time Junichi is the lucky one. The main character of the anime is Junichi who finds it hard to find his first girlfriend in school time. Things won’t be so hard for him because after his friend’s forcing him to confess to one of the girl by the name Yame Yukana. Things slowly change and the MC who never dated started dated not just the girl he proposed but finds more than a harem to date with. At the same time the things get complicated when he starts to experience a series of firsts and he is naïve in dating as well. Now the whole show will be based on Junichi gets his first girlfriends and starts his dating life for the first time as well.

The Hajimete No Gal season 1 was released in 2017 during the summer anime season. The first season consisted of 10 episodes that were released from July 12 – September 13, 2017. This is a comedy, romance and ecchi genre based anime show which I expected to be not so long.

Hajimete no Gal (My First Girlfriend Is a Gal) is a continuation of the romantic anime directed by Furukawa Hiroyuki and the NAZ studio, based on the popular manga. As of October 2020, there is no official release date for the anime “Hajimete no Gal / My First Girlfriend is a Gal season 2”. So close My First Girlfriend Is a Gal, you almost had an actual natural boyfriend-girlfriend relationship for a second there. It’s finally over folks. With what I assume to be an end brought on by the series length being cut short thanks to a Mr. P-E-D-O, My First Girlfriend is a Gal comes to a close on episode 10.

I have watched the anime which consisted of only 10 episodes that were 23 minutes long but they were really good to watch. I really enjoyed watching the anime because the storyline and animation were both pretty impressive. The main character was depicted to be naïve which was the main point of the show and the MC was really funny that made me watch the whole series. But the main thing is what is going to happen in the second season of this show. Hajimete No Gal season 2 anime story is going to be massive because relation between Junichi and Yame will be more stronger. So in the second season a new transfer student who is a girl might be introduced who will break their relationship.

Let me begin with the good news that the Hajimete No Gal season 2 is surely going to be announced very soon. It is so because we have seen that the anime first season was really well made and fans were impressed as well. At the same time the DVD and Blu-Ray sales were good in numbers as well which has given green flag to second season. Now we also know that the anime first season only used just few light novel volumes and there are many volumes left as well. It means that for creating the second season there are enough source material and studio will find it easy to make as well.

As far as the release date is concerned the announcement has not been made till now but we are pretty sure that the show will be released in 2018 mid season. We are expecting that the show will be released during the July to September period similar to the first season. When it comes to the episode list we are thinking that this time the show will have 13 episodes but not 10 episodes like the first season. The reason is there is enough light novel content which will be used to make the 13 episodes full of 23 minutes long.

Conclusion:

So the Hajimete No Gal season 2 release date may not have been released or announced till now. According to one of the online sources it is said that the second season will be released during the 2018 mid season. It means that My First Girlfriend Is A Gal season 2 will be released during the July month of 2018. Since the first season was consisting of only 10 episodes we are expecting that the second season will have 12 episodes. So let us wait and watch till when the Hajimete No Gal season 2 release date may be announced.

Can it be? Are girlfriend and boyfriend actually acting as such? …No.

It honestly feels like forever since I’ve watched a high school romance that actually evolved naturally and displayed natural emotion. The last one that I simply adored was in Ore Monogatari!! (My Love Story!!) The relationship between two awkward teens felt simply sweet, the misunderstandings and fights felt genuine and apart from one afro asshat there friends weren’t a bunch terrible people. AND NO ONE WAS A PEDOPHILE.

But on to important things today, Yukana and Junichi have their first fight when the two run into one of Yukana’s old classmates, Dai Mitarai. Now Junichi being Junichi becomes a depressed mess and starts spouting his self-deprecating complaining to Yukana, questioning why she would want to be with him when guys like Dai are so much better than him. Yukana then runs off hurt by Junichi and without answering his question and for the rest of the episode Junichi’s friends actually try and help bring up his spirits. Not by being helpful of course, but by helping perpetuate his negative attitude about himself which Yukana clearly detested. Truly Junichi picked the best crew to have as his friends.

I am feeling so on the fence with this episode. It is finally getting around to the actually interesting aspect of a show called My First Girlfriend is a Gal. The freaking gal. Definitely, this fight could have opened up Yukana and Junichi to know and learn more about one another as, to be frank, Junichi doesn’t know crap about Yukana. We as the audience don’t know anything about her from this anime. We get glimpses of her innocent nature and her carefree happy attitude but thanks to the show’s focus on three certain individuals we missed out on fleshing out our main gal.

It’s a crying shame as I feel Yukana is a really nice character and her teasing romantic nature could make her a wonderful romantic antagonistic to the awkward Junichi. But like with Touya from In Another World With My Smartphone, the show is petrified to show Yukana in an unfavorable light to help us see why she feels the way she feels. Yukana becomes just an ideal that Junichi pines for firstly physically and then inexplicably for a more personal reason. I can’t really say their chemistry has improved over the show as the two have felt rather disconnected from each other. I excuse that disconnect when Junichi is wrestling with the problems brought in by Ranko, Nene, and Yui as that helps reflect Yukana’s personality so we see those good traits from her.

However, I can’t get past how much the show has wasted our time with Junichi’s friends. Their insistent callbacks to pedo friend’s pedophilic efforts, Shinpei’s blunt and perverted misunderstanding of relationships, Keigo’s… practically undescriptive character, all of that built to nothing that involves Yukana and Junichi. This fight should have happened 5 episodes ago to help kickstart their relationship into something beyond the physical. Because just like the vapid Junichi the series could only see skin deep.

I do like the aspect of this episode where it involved the gals. They were fleshing out the relationship of Yukana and Junichi while showing an angle to each of their characters that made them more dynamic to the narrative. If the show was about this then it would have been a fairly decent romance anime. But it wasn’t about that, was it? No, just like Junichi in the first episode, My First Girlfriend Is a Gal is about just the bare minimum tits and ass and all this episode shows is that some writer on the team desperately wanted this to be more. At least for the anime though this was too little too late.
